Read-A-Thon Fundraiser

The Read-A-Thon is a new fundraiser in support of Heart of KY Kids and the Boyle County Imagination Library. During the month of March, we invite our community to join us in READING LOTS and RAISING MONEY to support free books for children in Boyle County!

Why are we fundraising?

To provide books to kids in Boyle County!

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. The program is administered by local chapters, organized by county, in states across the country. Although the Dollywood Foundation pays for the majority of costs to select and send the books, our local chapter is responsible for raising  approximately $25 per child per year so we can support our part of the program.

Currently, there are more than 950 children enrolled in the Imagination Library program in Boyle County. We have some work to do!

Want to help?

1. Fill out a simple online form (click here!) to request a downloadable calendar. Congratulations! Now you're a Calendar Keeper!

2. Set a reading goal for yourself (10 minutes per day? 5 minutes per day? One chapter per day? It's up to you!). Check off your progress on the Calendar.

3. Invite friends and family to sponsor your reading by 'claiming' a date on the calendar and donating the corresponding dollar value. So, if someone claims March 10th, they agree to donate $10, and so on. Check off your progress on the Calendar.

4. As the Calendar Keeper, ask your friends to give their money directly to YOU in whatever format is easiest for you: cash, Venmo, check — whatever you prefer.

5. Collect all donations and turn in the total amount, along with your calendar, to Plaid Elephant Books by April 5th. 

All completed calendars will be entered in a prize drawing!
